The court intrigue was very similar to that in Buckkeep, especially the more tense politics from Royal Assassin. Honestly, this felt like a Robin Hobb book, which I couldn’t be happier for. I enjoyed reading about all of them and related to many of their struggles. Both 35-year old men who have had tragedies and massive battles in the past that they’re still recovering from.Īctually, all the characters were great and well developed. They are two very different characters but their circumstances are quite similar. I’ll just give a brief overview and what to look forward to.Ĭaz was an absolutely delightful protagonist that reminds me greatly of Fitz in Tawny Man Trilogy. Only by employing the darkest, most forbidden of magics, can Cazaril hope to protect his royal charge-an act that will mark the loyal, damaged servant as a tool of the miraculous, and trap him, flesh and soul, in a maze of demonic paradox, damnation, and death.NO SPOILERS This is going to be spoiler free as I don’t think Curse of Chalion is as read compared to some of the others books I’ve reviewed.
